    About Virtus

“…your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 Cor 2:5

The word translated here as “power” comes from the Latin word “virtus” which means excellence, character, or power. I chose this word because it fits perfectly for how I want to live my life. In all things I do in life, including web interface development, these are the qualities strive for.

    About Me

I graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Physiological Sciences, earned a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from George Fox University and for five years, worked as a high school math teacher. In the past I had thoughts about pursuing a career in the web design/IT field but circumstances kept me moving in a different direction and it was never more than a hobby.

In 2008, that changed when I was recruited to work for Flock, a then Mozilla based search engine who’s focus was on social networking and usability. Flock opened the door to pursue a career in web design and front end development.

I partnered with Ask.com to bundle their search engine with my Firefox themes.

    2010 — Bing

I switched from Ask to Bing as the search plug-in option with my themes. I also started building custom branded themes including themes for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Fire and Rescue and Kutless.

I contracted with Waggener Edstrom to work on projects for clients including Bing, Microsoft, and HTC.

    2011 — Independent Contractor
